1. I’ve journaled fairly consistently since childhood, but as of late, this ritual has become more of a cathartic practice rather than a point of pleasure. I’m unsure what to make of this shift just yet, but documenting feels precious. Necessary, even, because it seems to be the only thing that can’t be sanitized or suppressed.

2. There’s a similar sense of urgency to buy books. We need to keep, hold, and protect stories and information.

3. Smelling beautiful things has been an escape. I tested over 700 fragrances last year; these 10 perfumes were among my favorite discoveries.

4. Testing so aggressively was actually what inspired me to start layering fragrances. (I was very much a perfume purist until I needed to start wearing multiple scents at once.) Here are a few tips on how to layer perfumes—plus some unexpected pairings I haven’t seen on PerfumeTok yet.

5. I mainly wear fragrance for myself, but I can’t help but take a mental note of which people seem to love most. These are my most complimented perfumes: some are obvious crowd-pleasers, but I’m tickled by the unexpected.
