Five Things (10.9.15)

1. I’m currently sick as a dog (who came up with that phrase, anyway?), wearing head-to-toe grey sweats and a giant plaid blanket-scarf. Fitting, because said look is the anti-thesis of me and I feel completely unlike myself. I’m exhausted, stressed, bloated, groggy, feverish, and hacking up a lung. Did I mention that my head’s pounding, too?

Such is the benefit of having a personal blog. I can be as self-indulgent and whine-y as I want and think people care…until I look at my site stats and see visits dwindling. Oops.

2. I think a juice cleanse needs to happen; I’ve been hard and I’ve been bad to my body (insert something about your body being my wonderland (ick) a sacred temple). Any recommendations on a good (but affordable) cold-press juicer? My favorite concoction—albeit store-bought—includes apple, banana, beet, carrot, orange, pineapple, and turmeric. (Green leaves and veg go into smoothies—something else I’ve been depriving myself of out of severe laziness.)

3. First comes health, then comes happiness, love, wealth, and all the other good things in life, eh?

4. Speaking of health: my friend found the SECOND BEST HEALTHY RESTAURANT, EVER. This is exciting stuff, you guys. In New York and LA, I’d imagine they’re a dime a dozen, but in Jersey, it’s a miracle if a place has a vegan options and/or waiters that don’t shame you for telling them you want a salad sans cheese, meat, and dressing. (I seriously don’t like any of those things—save goat cheese and mozarella, which makes me the worst vegetarian ever—okay, mister?)

Naturally, it’s called the Healthy Garden Cafe. I ate there two days in a row and ordered the same thing: that’s how good it was. (Roasted beet salad, with grilled tofu and no dressing. I’m. Utterly. Obsessed. My friend got the ‘Very Healthy’ wrap (vegan) twice in a row too; I can also attest to it’s deliciousness).

I can’t get that salad out of my head…so you can only imagine how over the moon I was when I found out THERE’S A LOCATION NEAR ME.

Caps are necessary. Yes to health and veggies and good food!

5. I’m clearly sucking at writing ‘Five Things‘ lately. I’m sorry. This week I’m overwhelmed with illness and exhaustion, but you know what else happened this week? I finally saw Daniel y Desirée in the flesh AND got to take their workshop. I’m still fan-girling, and if there’s one thing I don’t do, it’s fawn over human beings over the age of six. (If you’re not into Latin dance, you’ll get it as soon as you watch any video on their Facebook page).

6. And because my ‘Five Things’ are sucking, I’ve decided to add a sixth thing that you might actually find informative. I’ve found the best, matte crease color (not to mention, one of the best matte eyeshadow formulas all around): Bobbi Brown ‘Camel.’ It’s just warm enough where it adds depth, definition, and blendability without veering on the side of an unwearable orange.

xx
