doo.ri: Fixated on Spring

14 April 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

doori-spring-09

I absolutely adore the Doo.Ri’s Spring/Summer RTW ’09 collection – there seemed to be themes that were quite pronounced, including, but not limited to, athletic dresses with more sophisticated but languid pieces. It was quite gorgeous, the latter – the liquidity of the fabrics reminding me of the same fluidity present in Donna Karan’s Spring collection. Somehow, I’ve become quite enamored with the concept of loosely draped clothing – which is quite the change for me; I tend to opt for body-conscious fits. But it was Donna Karan and Doo.Ri’s collections that opened my eyes. It was indeed the aforementioned two that proved that body-con fits are not the only silhouettes that can be regarded as sexy; when the drapery of a clothing is calculated meticulously to fall on a woman’s body, such fit can actually accentuate – not hide – a woman’s curves.

My latest obsessions, loose fitting trousers and tanks, are all present. I can only imagine how comfortable it would be, lounging around or walking about in such light-weight fabrics. Paired with heels, like the YSL tributes, the effect is simply killer: super long and lean legs. The idea of tucking a silk tank into a pair of those trousers, covered with a slightly fitted blazer is ingenious. And anything with shoulders revealed is a plus – Grecian twists on clothing always add a degree of interest and demure sexiness. Utterly effortless and casual cool – but still so elegant.

The color palette was yet another factor adding to the perfection of the collection. Grays, nude, cream, electric blue, and hot pink, though an odd collection of colors, is strangely chic and sophisticated. The latter two are much more vivid, so when paired with the neutral shades, are toned down just a bit so that a bit of balance is achieved without looking tacky or, well, boring. A splash of color, especially in the spring, is ideal.

N o t e  to s e l f: Loose, cream colored trousers // loose tanks // anything in electric blue or fuschia pink are necessities this spring.

Currently on the hunt for the perfectly fitted trousers to wear with heels.

Bisous,

La C.

i think there is something SO sexy about loose clothing! It’s so gorgeous on a woman you know? I feel so sexy in flowing garments, but with tighter clothing I feel almost awkward. Plus I actually thing guys prefer girls in looser clothing, I dunno every guy i’ve ever known loves girls in big loose jeans and big baggy T’s (obviously cuter stuff) but you get the idea! lol okay i’m done rambling!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Doo.Ri, her easy flowing lines & gorgeous colours are always so elegant, but with a relaxed feel to it. As a huge fan of anything drapey (and grecian), love Donna Karan! Her Spring 09 collection was 2D4!!!

Note to self: I really need to bring blue back to my closet…

haha Loose tunics are a must for my closet as always but lately I’ve just been obsessed with just earth tones. [and black. Old habits die hard]

Yes! I totally feel the lighweight floaty-ness of spring. I’m currently obsessing with my loose pants, some cropped, some insanely long and all sorts of odd shaped blouses. Strangely enough, the lightness of fabric can make even the most billowy shapes result in lean looking bodies and for me, it can even generate height (of which I sorely lack :/).

I am still gushing with happiness over your Tributes. I am so happy you have them, I can’t imagine anyone else more deserving! And what more, I can’t wait to read about how you would pair them up and wear ’em out! (:

I agree with you on how a drapey, loose silhouette can be sexy and graceful, but how to wear it if you’re short? Especially without looking too much like a genie!

Well, another thing that we have in common, I used to be addicted to books when I was a kid, unfortunately I don’t have time to read that much right now. Today I was at school and I was talking to a friend ( Irene from Girl next blog?) and I told her u were 17 as we are. She was really surprised, as u are so mature. I find u really inspiring, seriously, I said that before but it’s unbelievable that u have so much talent and good taste being as old as we are 🙂

And I can’t even tell you how flattered I am that I even came up in a conversation between the two of your fabulous selves. Thank you sooooo much Miriam. You are tooo sweeeeeet! <33333

I totally agree. Loose fitting clothing that hugs the body in the right places is possibly even sexier than body con looks. Because it’s understated, and never looks like your trying too hard. Gorgeous picks. xx
