Guess Who?

10 November 2008 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

It’s that time again – le petit examen de vogue, #3!

givenchy_croitfeld

Who do these lovely pair of Givenchy heels belong to?

Bonus points to those who can name the man beside her! (I must admit, that pair of feet is unknown to me; but if you know, do share!)

Oh dressing, this Voguette had said:

“It’s very difficult not to become a puppet. Like Anna [Wintour], she became so iconic that she becomes like a puppet. I don’t want to be like that, I don’t want to wear this uniform, I don’t want to be just an envelope.”

I think the grammatically incorrect English should be a rather large hint..

And those shoes are just so fabulous. Speaking of cut-out booties…

camillia-skovgaard-booties1

From classic ankle booties, perfectly conservative without a bit of toe cleavage revealed, they have evolved upon the bootie’s first introduction into something completely edgier and a work of art on its own: the cut-out bootie. They’re more dangerous, by far edgier, & do require a bit of bravery to incorporate into outfits – a challenge. Which is why I love them.

I love these Buckle High Heeled Sandals (buckles are another plus for trend-followers) by Camilla Skovgaard. The shoe is in a beautiful, chocolate brown, which is perfect for fall (except those cold or wet days where flats come to the rescue). It has rather interesting shapes cut out, but not to innovative to consider obscure. With such a complicated shoe, of course, bear in mind that outfits should be kept as simple as possible, with a statement bag or bold bangles as accents. The shoe should be the main focus of the outfit! (Available at shopbop.com, $538)

claudia-ciuti-inka-booties

I absolutely love this Inka Cut-out Peep-toe bootie by Claudia Ciuti (shopbop.com, on sale for $238.50, original, $405). A bit more conservative than the Voguette’s Givenchys, this remix of the classic oxford is a hybrid of both the cutout bootie & something a bit more professional. A bit of edge is added to the minimalistic details: a punch of metallic, purple, in the most beautiful shade! Anything with purple, this season, is of course (as you all know) is a plus to any outfit. With a more simplistic shoe like this one, you don’t necessarily have to stick to the basics; wear it to work for added interest – pair it with the traditional fitted black pencil skirt, a top, and a matching headband just to tie in the eggplant shade. And voila! A fashion foward outfit, without feeling outrageously trendy. The low heel is yet another bonus for commuters!

pour-la-victoire-bootie

Before you proclaim to yourself that this is the ugliest shoe you have ever seen, or declare that I, La C., has officially become insane (which I assure you, is hardly the case), think of the potential of this shoe. There have been crazier, & more extravagant, mind you. Though personally, I would not buy this shoe, but if given the chance to wear it, I’d embrace it’s uniqueness & innovativeness & make it work! Why not seize the day, carpe diem, & be brave? This shoe really has so much potential; not only is it a work of art, but it is a statement of creativity, individuality, and, well, of courage. Be simple; show off the shoe with a white tee, straigth legged jeans, & a cropped black jacket. Keep accessories to a minimum, perhaps to just a simple silver necklace and a bracelet. (Pour La Victoire Bianca Booties, at shopbop.com)

xoxo,

La C.

I like the first and the third one, the second is not really my thing.
“This shoe really has so much potential…” Definitely, this sentence sums it all up, like no more words would be needed to describe it.

I’m no good at these guessing games, because honestly I have NO clue who those shoes belong too! Hm, maybe I should study people’s feet more! 😛 And I quite like the first pair of shoes you posted! 🙂

I bought the Camilla Skovgaards in black. They were lovely but not fitted to the foot at all – and they were oh so difficult to put on – and I have a pretty narrow foot.

I was so crushed. I’ve been coveting Camilla’s designs forever – and she is a doll to talk to.

God I wish they had worked for me.

oh really, so who’s that? an editor? yeah probably.. but i seriously doubt it’s actually carine, for now i remember seeing a fake carine wearing those with what’s seems to be a dress unlikely to be carine’s style, oh yeah & the faker also had a “broken” arm.
still the shoes r great!! as for the dress…

Ooh those Givenchy’s are hot! Love the complicated nature of cut-out booties, plus how the cut-outs make it more possible for those of a shorter stature to buy booties and not look chopped off.
