The Little Black Ribbon

13 September 2012 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

A black grosgrain ribbon (or velvet, à la Brigitte Bardot) is a most charming accessory when styled in the most unexpected ways. I always have a snippet of one somewhere in my handbag; as a headband when I’m feeling particularly sweet, or tied in a bow to emulate the ballerinas. To tie around the handle of a purse, or to wrap a spontaneous present, or  bind a few flowers bought for yourself from the corner flower stand on the way home. To act as a makeshift bookmark so you don’t succumb to dogear-ing precious pages of your favorite book, to keep the covers of your daily diary bound shut, or to hold up a falling, thigh-high stocking…

Oh, the things I could do with a piece of black ribbon.
