Took the ever-elegant Lady Dior on an outing this weekend. To the LACMA we went; it’d been a while since I visited (and at least two years since she’d been out of storage). Key works were still just as I remembered (Picassos and Matisses, namely, and this giant David Hockney of his view commuting to his studio), just rearranged differently since I last saw them. They were no less interesting this second round. If only I were a kid again and could stare at each brushstroke for minutes without being side-eyed—one of the many perks of being a child in wonder.
So, I take pictures on my phone now. Wide angles, close-ups, and of course the descriptions printed on the side of each piece—to be zoomed into as often and as long as I’d like. Kept in perpetuity, because I have this urge to collect the things I love (which explains why I rarely leave a museum or gallery empty-handed: I must buy the book that corresponds to the exhibit).
More of the “Objects of Desire” gallery—and one midcentury chair from the Scandinavian design exhibit—in detail, below. (Selfishly, this is more for me as a means of organizing said photos than it is for public consumption.)
