L’Anti Marilyn

I never really liked Scarlett Johansson.

Until this cover.

Controversial about Paris Vogue’s introduction of an American celebrity on it’s usual model-clad cover,

But I think she looks positively  s t u n n i n g .

(Then again, I may be biased since I consider anything done under Carine to be perfection).

I love the idea of an  a n t i t h e s i s  to Marilyn Monroe.

Dark, seductive, sultry, mysterious.

A bit like the nocturnal version of Marilyn, if you will.

The one who goes clubbing and dresses in lace cardigans but beneath that,

She wears a corset. In  b l a c k , of course.

S m o k e y  eyes,  n u d e  lips, and a  w i l d  mane of hair. The dominatrix.

A job well done, Carine.

Bisous,

La C.

what a gorgeous editorial! she may not be a parisian model, but she looks beautiful & it’s definitely a european editorial– so edgy & dark!

l o l i totally agree- everything done under Carine i s perfection! and i’m def. not Scarlett’s biggest fan either- she always plays the “other girl” but this cover is very “anti-marilyn” and gorgeous!!

I prefer her with dark hair and make up in these pictures! I don’t know, it’s more natural and glamour, than the too much blond and stuffs thing…

well written, i completely agree this is absolutely amazing, however i’ve been loving scarlett for years. she’s a classic beauty, but i do prefer her with blonde hair..it suits her better in my opinion.

I am not a huge fan of her either. But she peaked my interest when it was known she was Woody Allen’s muse. And now a D&G muse… and now on Paris Vogue?
    C’est magnifique.

I saw that cover when I was watching Carine doing the CNN interview. It’s definitely different from the models covers but it doesn’t feel like I’m looking at a cookie-cutter celebrity shot that most magazines do. It’s very well-done!

I completely agree. I have heard people say that they dislike this editorial, but I couldn’t adore it more. Scarlett manages to look provocative yet demure and classy all at the same time. I could truly see her with a veiled hat perched upon her wild waves, and a long cigarette held tightly between two gloved fingers. It’s all very…French.

I know this has nothing to do with Scarlet (who looks amazing as a red head!) but I just wanted to let you know that because of you I’ve finally caved and picked up a Moleskine…and I’m hooked! I just gave you a thanks on my blog. 🙂

Did you see Carine´s video on CNN?
She mention that cover and how scarlet just decided to change the hair color at the last minute and Vogue didn’t know before…
