Le Petit Examen de Vogue, #5

9 December 2008 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

I think I’m being spoiled.

Almost immediately after receiving an award from Demi, an e-mail from the super-sweet Maria of Lost in a Spotless Mind directed me to a post on her favourite blogs. There, she wrote quite possibly the most flattering little blurb about my little bloggie & I, perhaps being a little too generous in her compliments ;-). Nonetheless, I do wish to thank her profusely. I had started this blog with the intention of doing what I love best: writing, and fashion. And just knowing that there are readers out there who actually take the time to read my drawn out posts (I do know they’re longer than the average fashion blog) is the greatest of compliments.

And if you’re curious, here’s the little blurb:

♥ La Couturier ♥
“This girl knows how to write about fashion! Although she does post carefully selected pictures, her blog is much more literary than the two blogs I’ve mentioned previously. Her “voice” is witty, warm and to-the-point – what more could one look for in a girl? I also like that although the tone of the blog is light and easily accessible, it’s clear she’s done her homework and learnt her fashion terms and references. The layout of the blog is unclutteed and elegant, and the items in the sidebar do not distract from the posts themselves (I personally cannot stand those blogs that automatically play music when you open them, or have a ton of flashing/moving things that demand attention. I usually try to give them a second chance, but my first impression is rather ruined). My favourite post of hers this far is “The story of one skirt & six women“, which is wonderfully imaginative!”

From the bottom of my heart: thank you.

And now, yet another petit quiz!

I think I swooned at the sight of these beauties.

Only Balenciaga would know that nude, gray, and silver would look unbelievably amazing together. A touch of neutral sophistication, edginess, and a bit of a futuristic quality all in one fabulous stiletto. The architecture of the shoe is a bit mod meets art deco, with the waved cap-toe and straps. My verdict? Fabulous.

And so…

Who’s feet do these lovely Balenciagas belong to?

(extra credit if you can tell me where she’s at!)

xoxo,

La C.

p.s.: It’s almost that time of year (in a matter of 2 weeks or so!). Which means, of course, time to start brainstorming on your wish list. Whether tangible or not, making them is quite enjoyable! Where to start? Look to my new page, “My Wishlist” (at the top of the site) to look at my own for some inspiration. Or, show some love & buy me something? Of course, I kid :-).

They remind me of tall, strange birds in a way! More art than shoes.

Is it Carine wearing the shoes? I’m just going with the obvious, it probably isn’t.

Those shoes look painful! But what is a little discomfort in comparison to sheer fabulosity? 😉

And I love reading your blog for all the same reasons as those written in that (very truthful) blurb above.

Nude and silver, that combination would have never occured to me – and I love that it now has! You always introduce the best ideas, allowing us to interpret them as openly as we can in our own style. 🙂 I can’t wait to try this colour pairing out.

And thank you babe! I think it’s a good thing we didn’t have the means, because we’d be drowning each other in glorious gifts – balenciaga, miu miu, louboutins…

    Okay wait, then again. :p

Love lots to you, La C! ♥
