Carine Roitfeld, Gucci 07 show in Prada miniskirt 2

Carine Roitfeld in satin Prada miniskirts

One of my [many] obsessions, maintenant, is high waisted mini skirts. The past few months I’ve become increasingly fond of bandage, body-conscious silhouettes (my signature, I suppose), accumulating quite the collection black knit skirts. But as of late, I have been eyeing those poofy skirts—specifically Babooshka Boutique‘s assortment of high waisted paper bag skirts. The sudden enamorant with such skirts are perhaps due, in part, to one of my favorite bloggers and inspirations, Belle Chantelle as well as Carine Roitfeld’s ensembles from Fashion Week in the years past in a delicious, satin Prada mini.

my favorites from ze boutique.

Babooshka Paperbag Minis

I absolutely adore the concept of the skirt; its wider proportions have potential in creating the illusion of slimmer legs, and an hour glass shape. Cinching it at the waist with a black elastic belt would only further slim my waist (a plus, of course!). Perhaps the most unique part of the skirt is the ruffled top that adds dimension and femininity. The possibilities truly are endless with such a mini; with a tank, tee of any neckline, fitted sweater, or blouse with ballet flats, pumps, or strappy heels would always create a polished ensemble for the girly sophisticate—versatile for any occasion, casual to semi-formal.

So whilst I am on a shopping ban and can only lust after these four darling skirts from afar—black and grey the staples, mint the current shade of spring 2009, and a jewel-tone purple for dressier occasions—do snag a skirt or two on the budding designer’s Etsy boutique, Babooshka Boutique. I’m swooning over and over again vicariously through these images!

bisous,

La C.

You won’t believe it but I sewed one, just like this !
It’s a weird champagne color, it’s just a little bit too large but it’s lovely !
and now you give me ideas to wear it !

Almost forgot to say WOW at that Leighton pic…

I love those skirts, they are so gorgeous and stylish, no wonder why you like them so much. And I love the milla/sasha editorial from last post, it seemes they have done many things together, because I saw/posted some pictures of them both photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, and if the have an union (some campaign or something) I didn’t knew of that one.

What a coincidence – I actually bought a pair of pants (yes, pants! Me! Can you imagine?) with the same kind of shape around the waist. They’re slightly baggy in the tummy/thigh area, but also has a couple of inches of spare fabric above the waist, which makes my waist look tiiiiiny when chinched with a belt, and creates the most lovely hourglass shape. Great post, as always, and my sympathies on the shopping ban. If it makes you feel a little better, I know very much how it feels… and I probably haven’t mentioned it before, but the black&white pics in your sidebar are fabulous!

Jewel Satin, Purple Pinky is my favorite, followed by the black cotton, to be sure. I have zero high-waisted skirts at the moment – now I want all of these! 🙂

I looove these skirts. I got one in the turquoise a few months ago and have to refrain from wearing it everytime I go out. They’re super flattering…you should treat yourself b/c it’s so worth it. I thought I saw that the boutique was having a summer sale??

Those skirts are absolutely gorgeous — so flattering and versatile. And I have to say one of the most brilliant incarnations I’ve seen was a girl who used the scrap from her friend’s vintage dress to create her own:
