Michelle Obama: First Lady + Woman’s Woman

3 April 2012 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

At the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, 2012. You can’t take your eyes off of her.

BOOM. Would it be out of place to call our First Lady hot?! Amongst other things.

So Michelle Obama is no stranger to ‘Best Dressed’ lists; an icon in every which way including her fashion choices, there’s no doubt she’s a girl’s girl. A woman’s woman. Powerful, inspirational. Proactive, progressive. A woman who retains her own identity and shines an individual entity even when linked to her husband. She is Michelle Obama first, First Lady second. (The ultimate power couple—Barack and Michelle.)

How she manages to be so appropriately dressed whilst pushing boundaries—a forward step for the First Lady role—is incredible. A little vest for a playground outing with her daughter, a pastel cardigan to meet the Queen, a one-shouldered (gasp!) gown at a stuffy White House dinner, a stunning McQueen in red for the state dinner with the President of China.

I-con-ic. So very.

Her Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards outfit is hardly a surprise, then, given her previous wardrobe choices. I’d expect no less—it was more so a jaw-dropper. A sartorial jaw-dropper and then some. What a femme, clad in a shimmering Wes Gordon houndstooth tunic over gunmetal Helmut Lang skinny jeans and patent, pointy-toe pumps.

Tell me she looks good.

BOOM.

I thought so.

i’ve always thought she has incredible style, and it’s refreshing to see a political figure in something other than a tweed skirt suit! (not that these can’t be fashionable…)
    insane outfit! love it all!
