Moxsie, Je L’adore.

3 May 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

Oui, oui. Je l’adore!

You may think that I throw around the word  l o v e  (and its other variations/synonyms) much too often for my own good. I shall admit it. I use the word excessively – but of course, I only blog about what I truly love (and want). Surely you can delve into the depths and psychological reasons for this condition of mine, but I only think it to be a reflection of who I am. Blame it on the stars – Aries are quite the passionate people. But instead of hate, I love, love, love. But I digress. The original point of this particular post was to declare my love for Moxsie. A little portion of my heart, près de the section devoted to the YSL patent Muse & the Tribute sandals. And no, not because their name is ridiculously adorable, or because Julia, Director of Marketing, was kind enough send over a care package. No, no. My reasons are far beyond that.

moxsie

I love and admire what Moxsie stands for (no, the letters of their name do not spell out some secret acronym). It is what makes them stand out from, literally, a sea we call the Internet, of millions of shops. It is what makes them unique, and what draws customers in time and time again. Of course with the rise of all things indie and independent along with this new-found passion magazines and bloggers alike have for them, it is hardly a surprise that I begin introducing Moxsie as exactly that. But they are for more than just another boutique that dedicates themselves wholly to showcasing handpicked goods from their team of style scouts, or one that thrives on supporting designers from across the world. Moxsie is all that, and more,  presenting “a treasure trove” of passionate designers and pieces that tell a unique story. Their missions is  t h r e e f o l d . Providing the best of services to their customers, supporting independent designers, and giving back.

Part one of their missions statement is: “To provide world class service to out customers”. Of which I can vouch for. 150%, I am that definite about their customer service. Yes, every company has the ability to ship out orders almost immediately so that the customer receives the order within a few days wait. Yes, half the companies out there take the time to package each product with much care (individually wrapped in brown tissue paper makes things quite chic). But few – a rare handful out of millions – establish a  c o n n e c t i o n with their consumers. Obviously customers will not receiving a personal letter, but it’s simply just this vibe I get when browsing their site, when speaking to their staff members. It’s something you feel really. Probably a personal opinion of mine, but I simply needed to get it out. I shall put out there (please do not read this as any sort of bragging; it is simply a comparison) that I have been contacted/talked to quite a few services similar to Moxsie. And out of them all, Moxsie has been the most personable.

Most importantly, and uniquely, Moxsie donates a portion of their proceeds, committing themselves to give back to the world. They call it conscientious shopping – which it is, precisely. And nothing feels better than investing in quality pieces whilst doing some good for this desolate world of ours. During the checkout process, you are empowered to choose whichever charity you wish to have proceeds go to from their list. An ingenious idea. Two thumbs up, most definitely.

Ah. So my babbling and useless rambling comes to an close – almost. But moving on to the exciting part – ze goodies!

So of course you curious little readers would want to know my favorite out of the batch. It was the letter from Julia! Okay. So I have a penchant for letters sent via snail mail (cards & letters are my favorite part of gifts!). It was immensely sweet, and was a huge factor in securing this faith I had in their customer service. It is unbelievable how she put so much effort, consideration, and thought into choosing each goodie – that, in itself, won me over. Without further a-due, ze goodies. Accompanied by my own commentaries & excerpts from the letter.

The Cupstone Ring.

lacouturier-006

“The cupstone ring [$130, available in blue, smokey, & clear] is one of our most popular pieces from Potluck Paris, & when you put it on, you can see why – it’s eye catching! I know your fingers are small, so I hope the elastic band fits properly. The designer of this ring, Phillippe Audiber trained at the Beaux Art and presents at Paris Fashion Week. I thought it would tickle a fellow Francophile.”

As a Francophile, oh gosh, I am beyond tickled indeed by the fact that (a) it’s Parisian! (b) the level of consideration in taking into account my ridiculously small fingers (they fit like a charm!) (c) it is one of the most obnoxiously brilliant rings I am proud to add to my ever-growing cocktail ring collection. It is  p e r f e c t i o n . The size, the Swarovski stones, the unique design, the amazing sparkles under the light… I  d i e .

Deep V-Neck Tee.

lacouturier-008

lacouturier-011

size 1! usually a size 3-4-5 (depending) but it fit like a charm!

“… I’ve enclosed a simple deep v neck tee for you from Choose Spun, a line of  o r g a n i c  bases. I think the body skimming fit & cut is probably something a dancer would like. Perfect with a high waisted skirt or over leggings!”

Yet again tickled by Julia’s deep perception and knowledge of understanding what I love and will use! Already this tee has become a daily basic and favorite of mine. I already have this unhealthy penchant for basic tees with v-necks. This deep neckline is cut to perfection! Proof that basic is sexy. The material is amazing – thick, comfortable – with the addition of an impeccable fit. Love, love, love.

Feather Necklace.

lacouturier-002

“[This] piece is a feather necklace by Miss KK. This can dress up a simple tank or sundress. Miss KK worked for Zandra Rhodes in the past.”

This is the one piece where, I must admit, I had to give a second thought. At first I found it overwhelming – a bit too ostentatious a piece for my liking, but would be so  b r e a t h t a k i n g  for editorial work – the black crystals and nine black ostrich plumes on a gold chain. Of course if you’re the braver type it would look fascinating over a simple tee. After playing around with it a bit, I fell head over heels for it when I paired it with a simple, fitted & strapless LBD. Simply incroyable. Please invite me to some fabulous evening party soon just so I can wear this.

For those who don’t have enough time to read such a drawn out post, I apologize. In short, j’adore Moxsie!!

Bisous,

La C.

that’s quite a care package, my dear! enjoy those goodies!

of course, anything with the la c. stamp of approval merits immediate attention from me. i’m already seriously contemplating purchasing something from the site – but only after i’ve made it through the stress of finals!

i also use the word ‘love’ far too often, as well as ‘fantastic,’ ‘lovely,’ and a whole slew of other words. i could make a list of them and vow to expand my vocabulary, but i’d feel so handicapped..

You write so well & with such conviction. I think I’ll stop by today – I really love that ring! I’m considering purchasing it.

You are sooooo lucky. There’s a reason why so many companies want you to write about them. Because you have a way with words that makes us all want to whip out the credit card!!

I am terribly attracted to the feather necklace. It’s so beautiful! The volume is just nice. Not too overpowering and the way the feather curves over the collar area… I love it. There’s a sort of, movement to it. Must be a dancer thing, which I’m sure you can relate to. (: I’m sure you can work it without it looking ostentatious. You are after all, our fabulous La C! In my mind, you can’t do wrong really. <3

I so admit I’d never even heard of Moxsie, but I know quite a bit now.

I was trying to explain the customer service bit to someone who has worked a long time for the practice I am consulting with. She sounds mean. THAT is really bad for business. She said: That is just the way I sound. People get used to it.
