One Order of Balmain, S’il Vous Plaît

Okay. So I caved.

But I kinda sorta am craving for those coats with the strong shoulders.

Sprinkles of embellishment can be high in calories, but so what?

It’s  B a l m a i n .

And I’m loving the whole military taste. Women are equally strong.

Fearless when taken with a side order of skinny jeans.

Oh, and can I have an order of Louboutin suede booties with that?

Merci beaucoup.

Bisous,

La C.

I know, Balmania has taken over the world of fashion. Not hating, but not necessarily loving that it’s so mainstream. Regardless, I need that jacket! Loubs don’t hurt either…

Balmain jacket, nice pair of skinnies, and Loubs would be all I need to keep me satisfied. Really.
…Maybe a few other jackets wouldn’t hurt so much. A girl needs choices right?

Don’t feel bad. I fell in love with Balmain’s strong shoulders just last Saturday, after glimpsing a few of their offerings in the May 2009 issue of Vogue. It’s very Nutcracker, in a chic, Michael Jackson-inspired way.

this reminds me… while thrifting a few weeks ago, i found a sickkk vintage navy armani wool jacket- complete with military zippers, and what have you. fits in nicely with the balmain aesthetic, actually. i’ve been wearing it over dresses… but now i’ll be wearing it with skinnies and my ankle booties. 😀

I love the jacket. The embellishments on it are great. Reminds me a bit of a drum major outfit.

It’s lovely! The strong shoulders are amazing! Paired with skinny jeans and gorgeous heels = perfection! Too bad I’m broke and even if I wasn’t broke I still wouldn’t be able to afford it xD

Make that two orders please, you’ll pay, yes?

When I was in Rome I went into a store and bumped into the Balmain studded white vest and the store assistant urged me to try it on. (as if I can afford to even touch it.) That felt good, in a kind of touching a forbidden item kind of way…

I loved that show when it just came, and people were ‘hmm’, ‘buuuh’, ‘don’t know’. Now it really bothers me… but, eighties are still my favorite decades so I’ll manage. Besides, that jaaaaacket V_______v

What I love about Balmain is the embellishment on these very strong shapes. You would think that with such strong silhouettes & sturdy material that sparkly, metallic embellishments would be the last thing to think about. But it has worked! They have added strength to an already strong look and have not passed off as tacky or over-the-top. Striking that difficult balance, was for me, one of my top reasons why Balmain is so striking this season.

    Fabulous! (:

    SEAH!ui

P.S. Omg. The pre-prom preparation? We would have gone NUTS. Like, completely nuts. And it would have been crrrrrazyyy fun!! (:

Catherine: Lol I do know it’s from that particular issue, but I just don’t remember who/what source scanned the editorial. I always save pictures in my inspiration folder (usually from tfs) but this time I’m not so sure which site I got it from.

Hey LC – I maybe mentioned before but have to admit again and again: I enjoy reading your blog SOOO much!
Topshop launched a new collection yesterday: Barbara Hulanicki from BIBA. She has designed a suede jacket for Topshop, the shoulders are equally to the Balmain jackets. I’v ordered one, worth a try, right…? 🙂
