A list of things seen, savored, and loved in July.
- Late afternoon naps, and waking up to sun—a most delicious feeling
- Shaken brown espressos from a bubblegum pink truck
- Time to myself
- Jacaranda confetti on streets, still striking in violet hues despite the heat
- Blogging again
- This candle
- Slants of sunlight, in shades of pale neon orange on eggshell walls
- Writing in silence
- Packages in the mail
- Smelling beautiful things
- Vegan alfajores, gingerly hand-carried in from Argentina by my partner
- Butterflies flitting about, like little fairies
- Thai-spicy dinners, despite (and somehow, all the tastier in) the heat
- Buying books and print magazines
- Growing stacks of books and print magazines, waiting for the perfect time and mood to be read (only readers will understand the thrill)
- This perfume
- A coffee date with an old colleague who watched me grow up; she ordered a black sesame matcha, and I had the espresso version (which just about sums us up)
- Realizing that I’d been writing online for 18 years
- … and the sweet, sweet messages of women who took time out of their day to share that they had been reading for almost as long
- A good cry, which feels more poetic (and somehow, freeing) in summer
- This reminder
- Wild arugula dressed with Ya Albi Extra Virgin Olive Oil, nutritional yeast, and an overdose of cracked black pepper
- Plumcots, devoured in juicy, plummy pairs
- Golden kiwi, savored with as much pleasure
- Knowing that in the infinity of where I am—all is whole, perfect, and complete
. . .
xx
