The All-American Thing They Call Prom

24 April 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

car

Also known as the event that every high school girl should attend; after all, it is an American tradition. I must admit that I am rather excited… A night filled with getting ready and dressing up, pre-prom spent with the best, and a night filled with dancing followed by an after party is quite the life. Mmmm oui.  J u n i o r   p r o m , 4.24.09.

And it is no surprise that I have opted for classic simplicity; it is more me than the usual selections other girls opt for. I do love minimality. Mon ensemble? A strapless little red dress (fitted, of course), black heels, a silver cocktail ring, and a gorgeous statement necklace. Le maquillage? Dark, smokey eyes (my absolute favorite and signature when I do actually wear make-up), bronzed skin, and nude lips. Barcelona Red nail lacquer by Chanel on my toes and fingers. And les cheveux. Curled at the ends for a polished look. I like things un-fussy. C’est fin; gen, non?

I should love to  d a n c e  through  l i f e  (a Wicked reference).

Bisous,

La C.

Great decision going for sinple. Too often you either get people that are to pouffy or look skanky.

Oh, prom sounds like a lot of fun! We don’t have them here in Norway, not the traditional one at the end of high school, at least. Do enjoy yourself, darling – I’m sure you’ll be the belle of the ball in that outfit!

I would love to dance through life too, although I can’t dance at all;) Swirl through life I guess<3

Prom<3 I love prom, or ball as we call it xD I’m so happy there is no stress about needing to bring a date here in Norway or else I would be doomed xD I just love to dance with my friends;)

You know what? I know I’m going to buy the Chanel Barcelona red now, although I really don’t have the money! But now I can’t resist! The color is just so lovely, and I love red nails… It’s all your fault!

I’m sure you’ll be the most chic prom princess out there! I remember once staying in a hotel that happened to be hosting a prom. All I saw was poofy dresses and big hair. Such a cliche. It was quite scary actually…

You are going to look as utterly breathtaking as the girl in the picture you included here. Don’t forget to make an entrance that will make everyone stop and stare. Though the way you just describe your look dujour, I don’t think you’ll need much to do that. Your mere presence will make jaws drop.

Have the time of your life darling!

Gosh, looking back, my junior prom pics scare me re: my dress and hair. It’s funny how your sense of style evolves and what you thought looked amazing back then looks not so wonderful now. Your choice to go simple sounds like a standout winner. Can’t wait to see the pics. Hope you have an amazing time!

oh gosh, prom…it seems like at my school it’s the only word on everybody’s lips. It sounds like you will look simply divine, however! Red is the best color for making a statement.

For my own (5/20), I’m seriously considering a peach vintage dress with cream lace detailing and flowers in my hair…gotta mix it up amongst the sea of fake satin and hairspray haha.

Oh and you should post pictures!! I want to see this vision realized 🙂

I didn’t go to the prom but I have a strapless little red dress & black heels now. I was a late bloomer; I bloomed in my 30s I think. I’m not terribly prom..ish now either, but a well tailored cocktail dress is a fine thing. ~Mary

You can’t go wrong with simple glamour. At least you’re less likely to look back in your yearbook’s prom section nearly 10 years later and regret what
    you wore. Have fun~

of course i wouldn’t expect an outfit anything less than perfect (as has been described) from you but i really do think we need photos to see 🙂
