The 100th!

12 January 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

Hellooo, darlings! I do apologize for making you dearies wait so long for a new post—but can you imagine? It’s already the one hundredth post (and I’m thoroughly convinced that I arrived at the landmark “100” too early since I post whenever I feel inspiration coming, AKA, every other day or so). But no matter, since it’s the one hundredth post, it will be a chock full of goodies!

.   .   .

collage-by-just-jr

I think I hyperventilated a bit, jumped around, and then was left gaping in awe when I received an email from the ever so talented, impeccable-collage-maker (I believe I just made up a new title), Jaime of Blog de Mode! He made the most b-e-a-utiful collage one could ever hope for. I’ve spent quite some time on his blog, looking at each and every piece of work he’s ever made, admiring this talent. And to think, I now have one for moi? Too good to be true. It’s simply perfection; the color scheme, Marie Antoinette, Lanvin, macaroons & sweets… merci beaucoup!! I must find a way to turn this into my new header (I’ve needed one for ages, now). But as for now, I will print this out on some good quality paper & hang it up in my room for all to see.

6th-award-from-shoebox

I received an award from the lovely Johanna of Shoebox—thank you so much darling! And so, I pass it on to seven other bloggers, as the rules state so. Hui & Rachel of Fashion is Tension, Cheyenne of Stilettoed Praline, Jaime of JaimeWearsBlack, Jaime of Blog de Mode, Petra B. of City of Petra, Anywhere I Lay My Head, & last but not least, Lunemoiselle! They are all so fabulous in their own way, and super sweet too!

7th-award-from-stilettoed-praline

I truly am being spoiled now. The ever so sweet Cheyenne of Stilettoed Praline awarded me this one, where I quote, “Who needs fashion magazines when you have [La C.] online!” I’m ridiculously and extremely flattered with not just this, but the many comments left saying I should compile a book of some sort (which I do hope to be able to do sometime…). So thank you darling, & have loads of fun on that trip of yours!

Miriam was kind enough to write a little blurb about my article, “Being Fabulous. “Few days ago La Couturier wrote an excellent piece called being fabulous. If you haven’t read it yet, you should definitely do it, it is indeed a great post that only she would have been able to write so perfectly. She is, from my point of view, one of the greatest fashion bloggers, not only she writes about fashion, but she does it as stylishly as it can be done. Check out her website, its worth it.” Thank you, love!

.   .   .

And now, for the ultimate surprise. Drumroll, please…

A few weeks ago, prior to the holiday chaos that ensued pre-New Year’s, the amazing Erika of Fashion Chalet emailed me with the most wonderful idea: we would both create a Polyvore set and a story (a la my petite novellas!) with one common theme in mind. It was quite the exciting project to think of a particular theme, and to see what she & I would create; how the ensembles and stories would differ.

The Petite Novellas:

A Runway Model in Her Everyday Life.

Lily Donaldson, by La C. (yours truly!)

lily-donaldson

Thank goodness Fashion Week was over. Lily did love it; after all, it was her life, her passion, her career, a job that always came with little surprises and goodies here and there. She loved walking the runways for entire days at a time; but she also missed just being by herself, where she could grab a bite to eat at a local cafe and thrift for vintage treasures no designer could ever give her. For weeks she had been planning for this day of, ironically, no plans. Lily had finally finished her photoshoots for Gucci and Burberry (where her good friend Christopher Bailey had gifted her the much wanted studded heels!); she could now relax and not worry one bit. Usually she would wake up at the crack of dawn, out of both habit and necessity from Fashion Week and go-sees and the likes, but today she allowed herself to finally sleep in. It was nice to wake up with the sun streaming through the windows in her apartment; Lily took her time to stretch and enjoy the luxury of being able to lie in bed without the pressure of time. After relishing in the Egyptian cotton sheets for a few more moments, she rolled out of bed to get dressed. She wouldn’t bother with checking her email or voicemail today—nope: today was her day off.

Lily laughed to herself when she opened her closet. Editors and stylists and photographers had always duly noted that her wardrobe consisted only of black and gray (which was not true: she had the occasional brown or white in there). And they had deemed her the queen of leggings. She had no intention of proving them wrong; it was true—after all, she did get ridiculously excited when she finally bought these leggings with an exposed zipper. With her newly acquired Burberry shoes and her newly bought leggings, Lily turned to her uniform look: loose tee, leather jacket, and a knit scarf to provide some sort of warmth for when she would sip coffee at her favorite outdoor cafe. She grabbed her tote, also a gift courtesy of Christopher Bailey from the last shoot, turned on her ipod, and sauntered out with her music on shuffle. Her favorite song was playing. An indication that she would find the perfect mohair vintage coat on her little thrifting adventure.

Read Erika’s story on Natasha Poly here!

.   .   .

I’d say the first week of 2009 started out about right.

xoxo,

La C.
