Things I Love

3 July 2012 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

  • Maxi dresses. This heat wave has me on a summer high. I love it, I do, but with a propensity for perspiration, this weather isn’t exactly ideal for clothing, period. And since going out in public in the nude would cross so many boundaries of social propriety, and because going to work in a favorite bikini would be inexplicably inappropriate in so many ways, I’ve taken to maxi dresses to cope with (and enjoy!) the heat. Thin viscose or semi-sheer fabrics that require minimal effort. No pants, no zipping, no shimmying needed. It also means that underwear and bras are optional, but we’re not that salacious here at ABC.
  • Salsa on the beach. Burnt feet are the result, but as they say—with the good comes the bad, and if burnt feet are as bad as the bad gets, then so be it. Let me salsa on the beach.
  • Bikinis. Oh my god they make me so happy. I realize my aforementioned bullet points make me sound as if I’m some sort of an aficionado of minimal to no clothing—I love clothes, so no, never – and while I’m aware this public declaration of my love for bikinis isn’t helping my cause, I could care less. A chest full of bikinis and books would make me the happiest girl in the world. And right now on rotation are my lilac mermaid balconettes (from H&M) and a stunning black Anika Brazil, c/o.
  • My iPhone. What a beaut, this girl. Instagram is a favorite, too!
  • Gold jewelry. Thin, hammered bracelets, delicate chains, or medallion earrings on rotation. Gold on brown skin is intoxicatingly exotic.
  • Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. I’m an oily type of girl, for better or for worse. (Imagine if I were to put that on a dating profile—would you be turned on?) Bath oils, body oils, hair oils, tanning oils… oil me up, baby. Mhmm. This one smells divine. But a plus? My hair is softer than ever. Note my priorities when rating beauty products…
  • L’Oreal Voluminous (waterproof) mascara. It lives up to its raves. Amazing lashes that retain their curl all throughout my 10+ hour days. I’ve decided that mascara and blush are all I need in life, really. What about love, you say? Bah humbug. Coquettes do not believe in love.

    It’s too hot for anything besides some blush and mascara. I love your lists for ‘things I love.’

      Agreed. Makeup sweating off? Not a good look for anyone…

      But that could just be me (;

      Thank you babe! x

    I love your things I love posts! ha! if I could live in bikinis I would but it would be slightly awkward to wear them in the house to study haha and I have been searching for a maxi that will fit me properly for 2 years now! must find one! I’m going to try this oil for my hair I’ve been looking for a good one, Moroccan oil has failed me.

      Thanks love! Agreed. I sometimes do it anyway, just because (:

      Maxi’s are SUCH a tough one for me since I’m so short – everything needs to be hemmed, and because x amount of feet need to be hacked off of them, the drape is all lost! I have two that are the perfect length which I’ve been living in, but there’s so many gorgeous ones at Guess & H&M my heart is dyinggg for but are just farrrr too long on me /:
