Things I Love

7 January 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

So it’s not exactly Thursday, and calling the usual “TiLT” list “TiLW” sounds rather ugly and a bit barbaric – I’ll just stick to the first three words; at least “TiL” sounds better! Yet I felt the sudden need to type up a list of things I love – whether a product of stress or happiness of the moment, I shall never know. Which brings me to a tip: when you’re feeling the blues, at wit’s end, too stressed, or even overly happy, jot down a quick list of things you love! It helps you feel more optimistic, or if you happen to already be smiling, it helps you remember what’s making you happy.

And now, onward.

things-i-love-words

  • My FAQ column is finally up; read it, leave it, what have you!
  • All the amazing, positive feedback for my article, titled “Being Fabulous“. It really was such a fun piece to write and put together, and knowing that I was able to inspire and/or help someone means the world to me – that is what is most important to me as a person, a blogger, and a writer (well, –ish). So thank you!
  • Lately I’ve been obsessed with Martha Stewart’s podcasts, watching and re-watching the episodes on making absolutely scrumptious looking cookies. I really am dying to bake right now, perhaps I shall set a day aside (eventually, when the workload decreases immensely), whip out the apron and declare the kitchen to be mine for twenty something hours. Mmm, imagine endless racks of delicious desserts piled around, with a myriad of scents about the house. Lemon meringue, vanilla, oatmeal, chocolate…

  • Jaime Wears Black. I’ve been obsessively following this blog; Jaime is absolutely gorgeous and has such amazing style! She shares my undying love for black ensembles; and I must say, she pulls it off better than any other! Her outfits are always so chic, so classy, so enviable! And her closet and inspiration journal is quite impeccable.

  • Listening to my iPod until the little battery icon is barely a visible sliver of red. Bad for the dear iPod, yes, but my thirst for music 24/7 (and that is no exaggeration!) is insatiable.
  • Flipping through old magazines. I actually do find them more inspirational – and timeless – than the current ones. It’s a bit of an odd habit, yes, but I do love it so! This love for quote unquote “vintage” magazines and/or designer collections (as in, 2 – 3 years old) has been made quite obvious throughout my blog, I should think. Dedicating an entire post to Michael Kors’s Spring 2007 collection is proof!
  • Drinking an unprecedented amount of tea. Within the week, I believe I have refilled my mug of tea at least two to three times per hour. I’m beginning to form this theory that there is something in the tea that makes it so addictive; once a sip is taken, the entire cup is gulped down and left empty in a minute. Then it’s time to refill it.
  • My new ankle boots. Perhaps the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned; I’m in love with the slightly patent leather, the little hardware details, and the fact that it’s the perfect blend of those amazing utility boots and a more feminine bootie. Okay, so it leans more on the girly side, but I still love it anyway.
  • Spending an hour or so on a good workout for the tummy and the behind. It’s quite refreshing, actually, even with the knowledge that the next day I may wake up and be immobile. It’s quite alright though.

xoxo,

La C.

I’m obsessed with tea too, at the moment it’s vanilla green tea – so yum. Your “Things I Love” always cheer me up! x

Well I’ve got say I just love love love hearing things other people I know, I don’t know, sometimes I agree with them, and sometimes I don’t, but posts like these have so much love in them that’s hard not to be affected by a feeling of happiness and love! 😀

Oh but I am SO with you on a lot of these, especially about the iPod, I have a MP3 player (very similar to an iPod, except I’ve found it’s better than an iPod), and oh I play it to death. I’ve killed so many music players, but gosh, I just got to have my music! 😉

Anyway thanks for your sweet comment! <3

    xoxo,

Isn’t Martha Stewart just fantastic?! Honestly, I don’t know how the woman keeps doing it and just being so freaking creative all the time!

Oh gosh, driving home from the Melting Pot tonight I realized my iPod was officially in the red zone…whoops! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who lets it get that far on a regular basis 🙂

And, I just came across a ton of old Vanity Fair and Vogue magazines dating back to 2003-2004 and spent hours just combing through them – so fun!

Another wonderful list, thanks La C! And thank you for your sweet post – you’re such a sweetheart 🙂

I absolutely agree with you – writing down the things you love does great things for your mood! I even think that’s the main reason – for me personally – why I started my blog: for it to be a little space that I can fill with musings, pictures, music, inspirations, objects and words that I love for one reason or other. And browsing through the web, I think that goes for many style bloggers: they’re driven by their enthusiasm for stylish outfits, talented designers and beautiful things. It’s truly an inspirational world we create 🙂
