Things I Love Thursday

11 December 2008 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

And the answer to the quiz is…

Melanie Huynh

Jr. Editor of Vogue Paris, attending Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2009 Show!

It’s time again for TiLT! But first things first: I’ve been tagged by the lovely Marian of The House of Style to list seven things about myself, yours truly. [p.s.: I think I just might start a FAQ page since you lovely readers have asked many questions, through comments and e-mails. I hope to make your lives easier by making all this information accessible, so if you have any lovely questions, do drop it below in the comments. Or forever hold your peace. (I kid.)]

1. My favorite ice cream flavor of all time must by Godiva’s White Chocolate with Raspberry swirls – it must be the most luxurious name ever. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water a bit; it truly is the perfect dessert for indulging your senses, especially when eating it in a pretty bowl and matching silverware. It makes me feel a bit more sophisticated ;).

lipgloss2. The only makeup I wear on a daily basis is lipgloss. I have an obsession with lipgloss (I must carry 7-8 in my bag at all times). Otherwise, I save other goodies for special occasions or nights out!

3. I’ve been asked what my style is; basically what I wear is reflected in this blog. So I guess you can conclude that I do love basic, simplistic things with a sophisticated touch. But truthfully, what I wear depends on what music I was listening to before I fall asleep. So if it was, say, DJ Felli Fel’s “Get Buck in Here” (great song!) I would be in a hip-hoppish mood and go for a bright tee and distressed skinnies in a light wash. If it was Mariah Carey, then something a bit more on the glamorous side with glitzy accessories. And these little moods are also fairly dependent on what shows/movies I watched recently. I guess you can say its everchanging. Because I love everything.

4. This is my favorite time of the year; after all, it’s almost Christmas in a matter of weeks! I absolutely love the decorations, the music (yes, I’m a Trans-Siberian Orchestra fan!), the parties, the gift shopping/giving, and of course, the food. (Check out my wish list!)

5. Dark nail lacquer. It just makes me feel 10x more fabulous. And did you know that wearing red nail polish can boost your confidence? There was a study done in (I can’t exactly remember) 2006 (ish) on the color red – so the point is, when you need a confidence booster or if you’re having a rather tough day, don’t reach for black: go rouge!

6. I love sheer scarves. The lightness of it is just so delicate and gives this feeling of airiness. And they do a great deal in making an outfit so much more dimensional & elegant!

7. I have this obsession with lustworthy journals. AKA Moleskines. But I have yet to buy one!

And now, the TiLT list:

things-i-love-3

Watching the Sisterhood of Traveling Pants on my iPod. It really is a tearjerker – or perhaps I’m just a bit too sensitive. All emotional reactions aside, I absolutely love Lena – not only is she gorgeous, but the outfits she wears (post-Kostos) are so darling! Very sweet and innocent – something a bit harder to find these days, sadly. Not to mention; Kostos makes for some lovely eye candy.

Using my procrastinating time to pour through lovely streetstyle blogs and inspirational ones. The photos are so fabulous and make me want to go shopping – maintenant!

The January issue of ELLE just arrived! It does feel a bit on the lighter side; I do hope the economic crisis isn’t affecting the publication…

Dove Shampoo & Conditioner. It makes my hair ridiculously soft. And it smells so good.

Katherine McPhee & Andrea Bocelli singing “The Prayer” live. This song must be rank amongst the most beautiful songs I’ve yet heard. And the duet was beyond perfect, so impeccably sung that the hair on the back of my neck rose (so the cliche goes). Mindblowingly phenomenal.

Cookie Dough. I have an enormous tub of cookie dough tempting me every time I walk past the fridge. It seems to be calling my name too, taking advantage of my weakness and susceptibility to such high calorie sweets. It’s hardly fair, though! Savory bits of dough versus walking back to my desk empty-stomached. You see? (Simply writing about it makes me crave for more – perhaps I’ll try baking cookie dough cupcakes in a little while?)

Drinking french vanilla cappuccino, foam on top, with chocolate shavings in a delightfully adorable cupcake. Which I am dutifully sipping now in the most ladylike manner. I’m enjoying every last drop of it, feeling quite cozy with the fireplace ablazin’ and these rather cozy pajamas!

xoxo,

La C.

Sheer scarves, French Vanilla, dark nails…I love your Thursday already! 🙂

Your entire blog should just be a magazine. If I could, I’d print all your posts on glossy paper, bind em nicely, throw on a plastic cover and read it all in one shot – with a nice cup of French Vanilla Cappuccino.

    Delish!

    Hey La C!

Hope all is well. I agree w/you on the lipgloss and dark nail lacquer. I am addicted to both! And both are the only thing that I wear on a regular basis.

mmm.. gave all my lipgloss away. It just attracted my hair like a magnet! Dark nails – gave up on those almost 2 years ago.. Just don’t find’em fashionable anymore. Had my nails dark burgundy and black for almost 2 years.

I trade your vanilla capuccino for a Mocca Frappucino anytime! (ask your local Starbucks! 😉 ) but I’m kinda stuck on that Prayer song…. It’s so majestically Christmas…

I also added one of your posts in my linkage this week!

    Have a great weekend!

    Oh my !
    We could be sisters !!
I recognize the 7 to 8 lipglosses in my bag !
I’m addicted to the feel and smell and it makes your lips smooth, doesn’t it …?
Last week I bought an YSL one ; golden gloss #8
Lovely wintery colour, not to dark, with golden sparkles and the taste makes you wanna used it ALL the time…
Cappuccino : my breakfast ritual !
Sheer scarves : any scarf makes me greedy !
I think I buy 1 or 2 pcs per week (does this make me an addict ?)
