Vintage Vogue

12 August 2008 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

Vintage has been in for quite the few seasons, but it wasn’t until lately I became infatuated with the trend, thanks to Rumi Neeley’s blog, FashionToast (it’s inspired me!). I have never yet gone thrifting yet, sadly, but for now, my mother’s closet will suffice. I am quite pleased with all the goodies I found in my own home; it’s amazing to see what you find! Since my mother has never been the type of woman who was obsessed with fashion and accessories, she was willing to let me ravage thru her closet and take anything I wanted; within half an hour I scored a gorgeous vintage Gucci bag and matching wallet (pics to come, if you would like), a black leather Chanel bag (I know it’s Chanel, but I’m not sure if I’m in love with it or not), gold-rimmed Ray-Ban aviators (these were actually my dad’s), a few casual dresses, and an amazing pair of mid-rise black skinny jeans with an adorable bow detail in the back.

Anyway. Sorry for gushing, I was quite excited! I would love to go vintage shopping; any suggestions as to where to go?

Here are some great vintage inspired pieces I found; I know they’re vintage posers, but they really are lovely!

Coach’s new collection, Hampton Vingtage, has some great inspired pieces, the color palette consisting of teal, berry violets, gray, black, chocolate, winter white. This Vintage Lindsay Leather Shopper by Coach in teal and bass is my favorite! I love the signature details in the front pocket; its still Coach but with a vintage twist in the brass hardware, tassels, and the leather detailing. The bag is also available in black and gray, but I am in love with teal! The shade is not at all obnoxious; teal is a fall-friendly color that still allows for a pop of color against those dark colored trenches and peacoats. I’m actually considering adding this bag to my wishlist; I can already see the outfit: black peacoat, dark skinny jeans, black oxford pumps, and those Ray-Ban aviators.

I’m also loving this Coach Hamptons Leather Carryall in mahogany. It’s also in a deep berry, but this brown is delicious! In fact, the smoothness of the pebbled leather, pleating, and rounded edges reminds of a square of Dove dark chocolate (mmm!)! Okay, so it’s not exactly vintage, but the color and brass hardware are reminiscent of the past eras. I love the clasp and charms; they’re like icing on the brownie. =)

Okay. So maybe I went a little Coach happy here, but this Reese Leather Mini Flap shoulder bag in gunmetal and brass hardware gives off a vintage-y vibe. The tininess of the bag is is allusive of the shoulder pocketbooks that were toted around (just how did they fit everything in??). The chain strap adds a bit of an edgy touch. This is such an adorable bag; its perfect for just bringing a few of the necessities so your hands are free for an intense shopping spree!

xoxo
