When in Doubt, Simply Pout

12 February 2009 • Kimberly • Leave a Comment

lula-3

I absolutely love the editorial in Lula Magazine featuring Kirsten Dunst. Her tousled curls look oh-so-sexy; her neutral makeup with a pop of red by way of the nails is simply perfection. A definite beauty inspiration for the 14th, I say! It truly is the perfect look for a date or a luncheon with the ladies.

Darlings. I told you I love Valentine’s Day. Call it a corporate scheme, or a painful reminder of a relationship status. Yes, Valentine’s Day is one of the holidays (behind the holiday season in December) where corporations make millions upon millions on heart-themed confections and lovely jewels – that I cannot deny.

But I don’t see Valentine’s Day as a holiday meant only for couples, where it is the one day they have the excuse to snog obnoxiously and care not an ounce for what onlookers think. It’s a day to celebrate love; whether or not you are single is hardly relevant. If you are, embrace your independence and celebrate your successes and ability to love yourself without a man by your side. If you do have a valentine, celebrate your ability to remain an individual and still love your significant other wholly. Regardless of your relationship status, Valentine’s Day is a day not just to love another, but also to love yourself.

So why don’t you…

heart2 Dress up for the fourteenth. heart2 Wear false eyelashes, or wear several coats of black mascara. heart2 Paint your nails red. heart2 Add a dash of red or pink to your lips. heart2 Blush a little, wear a spritz of perfume, and a bit of shimmery gold or beige eye shadow.heart2 Simply bat those lashes and pout those lips. heart2 Tie a satin bow in your hair. heart2 Buy pretty or sexy lingerie. heart2 Take Polaroids of yourself, your friends, or your lovely Valentine & tape it up on your mirror, visible when you brush your teeth every morning. heart2 Smile coquettishly, & blow kisses. heart2

xoxo,

La C.

P.S. Any Valentine’s Day Plans, darlings?

My plans for Valentine’s? I think your little tips there are going to be my plan ^^ I’m going out with my other single friends and I’ve never bought falsh eyelashes, perhaps I will try that for this day<3

I think I use too many hearts<3333 But it kind of fits with this theme though?

I featured that editorial on my blog! It is one of my all time favourites. Lula is without a doubt my favourite fashion publication, so much thought goes into it.
Also I love your suggestions, so many people discount Valentine’s Day by saying it’s just for those in relationships but you’ve made such a good point.
    Great post (:

Even though I’m happily married, I totally love your post and your suggestions. For even those in relationships often think of V-day as a corporate scheme, but why not celebrate love? 🙂

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, and re: quote/poem I left on your previous post, it is in fact taken from the Bible, in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Isn’t it beautiful?

Btw, hope you don’t mind my asking, but I absolutely love your blog, and was wondering if you’d like to exchange links? I’d love to add you to my blogroll 😉

    Have a great V-day!!!

I am definitely going to be wearing falsies! They can be such a pain but their effects are so fun and flirty they make up for all the hassle 🙂

And that is a beautiful Kirsten Dunst editorial! I don’t know why a lot of people keep criticising her look and find her frumpy. In fact, I always find her fresh-faced, even at her “frumpiest”. That sort of nude, matte face with the red nails and her curls make her look sort of hipsterburlesque? Haha. I don’t know.

What ever it is, she looks great, period. And so is your post! ♥

    :)))

Uh oh, I wrote a comment and it disappeared!

Anyway, it was about me going to be wearing falsies soon! I hate the hassle of falsies but I love the effect so much so that it’s worth it. 🙂 It just makes me feel that extra bit girly and there are days where the girliness is just bursting from my skin. So, yay for falsies. 😀

Also, I love the Kirsten Dunst editorial. I don’t know why a lot of people find her look frumpy! In fact, I find her very fresh-faced, even at her ‘frumpiest’! This nude, matte face with the red nails are so gorgeous. It’s kind of, hipster-burleqsue? Haha, I wonder if that made sense. :p

In any case, she looks great. And so is your post. ♥

i’ve never been one to complain about being single on valentine’s day. there is no reason to complain. being single is amazing. you get to do anything you want, whenever you want (unless you still live w/ your parents…ahem). when you’re in a relationship you have to worry about yourself and your significant other. it has its ups (being in love is awesome i’m sure!) and it has its downs.
