Gallery Girl: Yayoi Kusama

Flipped through a few of the books on display at the David Zwirner Gallery in a futile attempt to defrost from waiting in line (more on that later, babes) and learn a little more about the artist behind the mirrored-room and neon polka dot hype. I’ll be honest: I wish there was a showcase of Yayoi Kusama’s previous work—like the faux self-portrait (I say faux only because another photographer took the shot, but it was a moment she created specifically to be captured) snapped above—when she obsessively explored the feminine and femininity.

It’s beautiful, isn’t it?
