nepo latrop candle review

vanille de milo nepo latrop candle review

Nepo Latrop Vanille de Milo Candle, gifted

1. Sophia, the founder Nepo Latrop, kindly gifted me two candles from her newly-launched line. I’m particular about accepting press samples and typically decline gifts, but I completely fell in love with the brand world she’d created even before smelling the physical candles. I had an inkling on the note narratives that I’d love the line, and they don’t disappoint.

Most candles have that candle essence, but Nepo Latrop brings the complexities of perfumery into home fragrance. The two Sophia picked for me, Paupoli and Vanille de Milo, are as me as a scent can get; they’re both scents I’ve always wanted but could never find. The packaging is exquisite and the vessels are gorgeous; Rice Milk is next on my list.

2. When it comes to fashion, I’m extremely brand loyal. I almost always exclusively wear Gentle Monster sunglasses; in fact, since coming across the brand five or six years ago, I haven’t strayed. I was lucky enough to pop into their New York boutique before the daily rush and picked up two pairs: the Noizer (from the BOLD Collection, which is my favorite line from the label) because I love a colored lens, and the Baby Pony (from the Jentle Salon, a collaboration with artist Jennie) for a sharper take on a classic silhouette.

3. Since working with and writing more about fragrance, I’ve managed to amass quite the collection. It’s nowhere near those of Perfumetok influencers, to be clear, but it’s a little olfactory library nonetheless—one that’s outgrown its main home in this bar cabinet I once thought was too big for my store. I’m now desperately hunting for an oversized buffet, sideboard, or media console (burl wood is what my heart is set on) to house it all with closed storage; perfumes are beautiful to look at but I care more about preserving the integrity of the juice. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

4. Speaking of perfume: I can’t stop wearing Celine Zouzou. I picked up a bottle during my New York trip and am wholly enamored, still.

5. I’m back in L.A., but part of my heart is still on the East Coast. Astrologers, is there something in the air or some tectonic shift that has my mind on New York?
